Two platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed in Sandwip upazila of Chattogram, located in the Bay of Bengal on the southeastern coast of Bangladesh.
BGB members will work as a mobile striking force to assist the local administration under the “In Aid to the Civil Power” to maintain peace and order before, during and after the 12th parliamentary election, said BGB’s Public Relations Officer Shariful Islam, reports UNB.
The platoons will also work to ensure the election is held in a free, fair and peaceful manner.
The BGB will perform its duties with professionalism to maintain the overall law and order situation so that voters can come to the polling centres and exercise their voting rights without any hindrance and prevent any violence and sabotage during the election, said the BGB official.
