MANIKGANJ, Jan 07: Milon Dashi Sarker, a widowed elderly woman in her eighties of Babur Hati village, barely manages to bear the cost of her living. She is one of the 3,000 impoverished people of Dhulsura Union in Manikganj's Harirampur Upazila, who received a blanket from a business platform to keep warm in the biting cold of winter.
The platform says gradually a total of 20,000 blankets will be distributed across Manikganj and in two upazilas of Dhaka.
Since losing her husband two years ago, life has become increasingly difficult for Milon Dashi. She is the mother of three sons and three daughters. Her sons now live separately with their own families and struggle to make ends meet with limited incomes.
Living near the Padma River, she suffered the harsh winter chill amid sweeping cold winds, especially during the nights. Without adequate warm clothing, she spent days and nights shivering in the harsh winter.
Milon Dashi received the blanket on Tuesday, when the distribution took place at noon in the Khan Bari area.
