Body of rickshaw van driver found buried in Madaripur 12 days after disappearance

Police have recovered the body of a rickshaw van driver buried in the ground in Madaripur's Shibchar Upazila, 12 days after he went missing.
A man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
The body was recovered from the Upazila's Bakharerkandi area on Tuesday morning, according to Madaripur Assistant Superintendent of Police (Shibchar Circle) Md Salauddin Quader.
The dead man was identified as Mizan Sheikh, 45, son of Aziz Sheikh from Shibchar's Balakandi.
The arrestee, Nurul Amin Shamim, is the son of Hashem Sheikh from Shariatpur's Gomastakandi.
According to police and locals, Mizan Sheikh left home with his van on the morning of Jul 31. When he did not return home, his family began searching for him. After finding no trace of Mizan, his wife Rahima Begum filed a general diary (GD) at Shibchar Police Station on Aug 1. Later, using information technology, police arrested Nurul Amin Shamim from Kumarkhali in Kushtia. Based on the information he provided, police recovered Mizan's body.
ASP Salauddin said, "Nurul Amin boarded the van, posing as a passenger. Later, after hacking Mizan to death, he buried the body and fled with the rickshaw van. Nurul admitted his involvement in the incident.”
The police officer added that an operation is under way to arrest others involved in the killing.
