Police recovered the bloodied body of a factory official from a locked room in Gazipur city’s Konabari area.

Abu Naser Al-Amin, senior assistant police commissioner for the Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP) Konabari Zone, said that the body was found inside a flat in a five-storey building in the Ataur Market area of Ambagh Madhyapara on Sunday evening.

The dead man was identified as 48-year-old Md Rafiqul Islam, who hailed from Tangail’s Dhanbari Thana. He rented the flat and worked at the “Feed Mill Limited” factory.

After recovering the body of Rafiqul, an official in the accounting department of the factory, the police sent it to the morgue of Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital in Gazipur.

Police and locals say that Rafiqul's mobile number was found to be turned off when multiple calls were made around 11:00 am on Sunday. Later, Rafiqul's family informed his colleague Rubel Rana about the matter. Despite his office’s attempts to contact him, Rafiqul could not be reached. At one point, two employees were sent to his flat to check up on him. They arrived to find the door locked.

At noon, they broke the lock with help from the owner of the house and entered the flat to find Rafiqul's body lying on the bed. The inside of the house was in disarray.

Police official Al-Amin said, "Rafiqul’s head and right thigh had signs of being struck by a sharp weapon. This is a murder. An operation is underway to arrest those involved in this incident."
