BOGURA, July 14: High-yielding chilli cultivators in the district are delighted over the bumper production and high market price.
A good number of growers said they are making a handsome profit from their produce this season.
Each maund(40kg) of green chilli is selling at Tk 1,400 to Tk 1,600 in the wholesale market across the district.
According the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) office sources, high-yielding chilli cultivation is expanding in the area as the item is proved lucrative to the farmers.
Anonda Kumar of Adamdighi upazila said he has harvested around 30 kgs of chilli from his 20 decimal land.
The farmer said he is getting a good price of his produce. He expressed the hope that he will expand the farming in the coming seasons.
Some DAE officials said green chilli cultivation is gaining ground in Sherpur, Dupchanchia, Sariakandi, Sonatola, Adamdighi, Dhunot, Nan-digram, Shibganj, Gabtoly, Shajahanpur and Sadar upazilas for easy farming process and low production cost.
