A case has been filed against former Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed and his four brothers under the jurisdiction of the Lalmonirhat Speedy Trial Court.

The complaint was lodged on Sunday by Tabassum Rayhan Muntazir, a local college teacher and neighbour of the former minister.

The accused include Nuruzzaman Ahmed, Shamsuzzaman Ahmed, a former Upazila Chairman and current District AL Vice President; Mahabubuzzaman Ahmed, Head Teacher at KUP High School; Khushiduzzaman Ahmed, and Waheduzzaman Ahmed, Personal Secretary to the Open University Vice Chancellor, along with 40-50 unnamed individuals.

The case stems from an incident on August 27, when Muntazir was building a fence on her paternal land in the Sreekhata area. According to reports, the accused and their associates arrived at the site, halted the construction, and assaulted her with iron rods, hockey sticks, and other lethal weapons.

Following the attack, Muntazir initially approached the Kaligonj Police Station to file a written complaint but was advised to go to court instead. Subsequently, she submitted her complaint through her lawyer to the Lalmonirhat Speedy Trial Court, which directed the police to take appropriate action.

Officer-in-Charge Imtiaz Kabir of the Kaligonj Police Station said that necessary steps would be taken in accordance with the court's orders.
