A man and his wife have died of electrocution in Jhenaidah Sadar Upazila.
The incident took place in Gaganna village of Holidhani Union on Monday morning, said Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station chief Md Asaduzzaman.
The dead have been Mujibar Khan, 60, and his wife Momena Khatun, 55, bdnews24.com reports.
Relatives say that Mujibar was working on cleaning and sorting paddy sheaves with an electric fan in the morning. He connected the fan to the power supply and went to check on it again as it was not working. He was suddenly electrocuted and the fan fell on his chest.
His wife Momena tried to save her husband, but was also electrocuted. Both of them died on the spot.
Asaduzzaman said that a case of accidental death will be filed at the police station over the couple’s death due to electrocution, and necessary action will be taken following an investigation.
