Detective Branch of police arrested seven suspected members of banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from Godagari of Rajshahi on Wednesday.
The identities of the arrestees could not be ascertained immediately, but six of them are said to be women, reports UNB.
Members of Detective Branch conducted several drives across the upazila at dawn and arrested seven JMB militants, said Sumit Chowdhury, Additional Police Super of the district.
Police were informed that some women distributed leaflets wearing veils in the area discouraging people from participating in the Bengali New Year celebrations program this month.
Later, police identified six females and arrested them.
The arrestees confessed their involvement with the banned outfit, said Sumit.
