JOYPURHAT, Oct 01:  Ducks rearing has brought revolutionary changes in the life of hundreds of grassroots people in the district.

The Department of Youth Development has taken elaborate programme in this connection.

The department in across the district arranges short-term training on duck rearing for improving livelihood of the poor.

Sources said more than 400 small, middle and large farms have been set up across the district.

Each farm contains some 30 to 500 ducks.

Each 2.0 kg weight duck is being sold at Tk 310 to Tk 320 in the retail market while Tk 290 to Tk 300 is the wholesale rate.

To produce a 2.0 kg weight duck at the home-based farms, the farmers are to spend Tk 220 to Tk 250, sources added.

If easy-term loan facility could be ensured the rearers would be benefited most, the official added.
