Ferry service on the Chandpur-Shariatpur route resumed on Monday morning after nearly six hours of suspension due to dense fog in the Meghna River.
The authorities concerned were forced to suspend the ferry services from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Monday to avert possible accidents, reports UNB.
Hundreds of vehicles waiting to cross the river remained stuck at both ends of the river, causing suffering to passengers.
Faisal Alam Chowdhury, manager of Harina Ferry Ghat in Chandpur, said the ferry service resumed around 9 a.m. after the invisibility caused by the dense fog improved.
On the other hand, launches operating on the Dhaka-Chandpur route are taking more travel time than usual due to the dense fog in the river, said passengers.
