The Fire Service and Civil Defence has rescued a 2-year-old who was stuck inside a room alone in a two-storey building in Netrokona city.

The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon on the ground floor of the building in the city's South Katli area, said Khane Alam Khan, Senior Station Officer of Netrokona Fire Station.

The rescued child, Ihan, is the son of Palash Ahmed, a resident of the neighbourhood.

Fire Service officer Khane Alam Khan said, “The child was playing inside a room. No one else was present there. At one point the door got locked and the child became trapped inside the room.”

When informed, Fire Service staff members went to the spot and opened the door, rescuing the child. They then handed the child over to the family, he said.

Khan Alam said, "Leaving children alone can lead to various accidents. Many times, children die after falling into water. Therefore, parents must be aware to avoid accidents."
