SIRAJGANJ, Nov 28: Hundreds of growers of the district are delighted over the good market price of the newly-harvested T-Aman paddy.
According to the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) sources, T-Aman farmers have achieved a good yield of the crop this season though they were worried at the beginning of the season as flood affected the area badly. Growers are now preparing the land for farming Rabi crops.
A maund of paddy is being sold at Tk 900 to Tk 1,000 in the wholesale market across the district, market sources said.
"I have harvested paddy of some five bighas of land and got more than 80 maunds of yield," said farmer Abdul Karim of Kazipur upazila.
"I have sold the entire crop at Tk 75,000 in the local market recently", the grower added.
The price may increase further when the mill owners will produce rice for the government godowns, sources added.
