A college student who appeared in this year’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination was killed and another injured when a bus ran them over on Dhaka-Khulna Highway at Mandartala under Sadar Upazila in Gopalganj on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Dipankar Banik, 19, son of Bhupati Banik of Raghunathpur village.
Monirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sadar Upazila, said Dipankar and his friend Apurba fell onto the road after a pickup hit their motorbike while returning home after refilling fuel from a filling station at around 9:30 pm.
Just at that time, a bus ran them over, leaving Dipankar dead on the spot and Apurba injured.
The injured was taken to Sadar Hospital.
