Govt primary school room set on fire in Gazipur

Miscreants set fire to a tin-shed room of a government primary school in Bormi union under Sreepur upazila of Gazipur on Sunday morning, police said.

Locals said unidentified miscreants set a tin-shed room of Gilashawar Late A. Jabbar Government Primary School on fire. Upon noticing the fire, nearby residents hurried to the scene and swiftly extinguished it. The fire left a few benches, fans and surrounding fences burnt, according to a UNB report.

AFM Nasim, officer-in-charge of Sreepur police station, said it could not be immediately known who set fire to the school room.

An investigation was underway to identify the accused involved with the incident, he said, adding that efforts are on to nab the arsonists.
