A female Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinee of Chittagong College was allegedly sexually assaulted by a peon of the institution after taking her to a resident hotel in Chattogram city last month.
Police, however, arrested Chemistry department’s peon Mosharaff Hossain and he has been in a Chattogram jail, as per UNB report.
According to the case statement, on June 27 the victim accompanied by her mother went to the college to collect her admit card for her examination which began on June 30.
The examinee forced her mother to go home as it was taking time to collect the admit card. The peon noticed the examinee was talking to a male classmate in front of the washroom of the Physics department.
Later, the accused intimated the girl saying that he found the examinee and her classmate in the washroom and would inform all including her family and the college principal.
When she collected the admit card, the accused proposed to the examinee to take her to her home and she agreed to it.
After getting on a CNG-run autorickshaw, the peon took her to a hotel on Station Road under Kotwali police station and raped her.
On June 29, the victim’s guardians filed a rape case against the peon with Chawkbazar police station as the college locates under the police station.
Following the day, police arrested the accused from his village home in Feni’s Fulgazi upazila.
Chawkbazar police station’s Officer-in-Charge Wali Uddin Akbar confirmed the matter saying that they sent the accused to jail after producing him before a court upon completion of one day remand.
Replying to a query, he expressed reluctance to make any more comments in this regard.
College principal Mohammad Mojahedul Islam Chowdhury said no one informed him formally but he learned it.
