A leader of Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal was hacked to death in Chattogram’s Barabkunda area of Sitakunda on Wednesday night.
The deceased was Md Nasir Uddin, 47, a resident of Hatilota village in Barabkunda union and organising secretary of Krishak Dal’s Sitakunda unit, reports UNB.
Sitakunda Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mojibur Rahman said he came under attack around 7:00 pm when he was leaving his home after iftar.
A group of miscreants ambushed and hacked him before dumping his body in a nearby jungle. Police later recovered the body.
Badiul Alam Badrul, convener of the Krishak Dal’s north district unit, said Nasir was involved in a longstanding dispute with some local people over soil trading in the area.
Police launched a drive to arrest those involved in the killing.
The body has been sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for an autopsy, the OC added.
