BOGRA, Oct 16: Kumrabori has started appearing in the local markets of the district.
Before appearing the winter season, the artisans have started taking preparation of the food item for the common people of the district along with other region. The customers also seek them from the local kitchen market.
According to local source the number of artisans are increasing gradually compared to previous year in Dupchanchia, Kahaloo, Adamdighi, Sherpur, Dhunat, Gabtoly and Sazahanpur upazilas of the district. Some 300 families were engaged with the profession last year and around 350 families have started preparing the food item in this year.
In a recent visit at Borai village under Dupchanchia upazilla of the district the correspondent found the artisans are crushing rice and pumpkin with artificial machine along with sesame to make the food item. The female members are making them and the male members of the area are drying them in sunny weather.
"To purchase the Kumrabori from the artisans directly, the wholesalers visit our locality," said Arjun Debnath, 34, at Kail village under Dupchanchia upazila. "Every year, we make a handsome profit from the business with the assistance of family members." he added.
To prepare a kg of quality Kumrabori, an artisan is to spend Tk 50 to 55 and sold them at Tk 90 to 100 in the retail market, said Arun Kanti, 45, under Nandigram upazila. Some families are seen engaging with profession as it is proved them as more lucrative, he added.
President of Fatch Ali bazar kitchen market Mozammel Haque said, the value of the food item is increasing gradually elsewhere in the county along with our district. If the artisans have been provided an easy term loan facilities, they would run the business without any hassle, he added.
