A court in Dhaka has awarded life term imprisonment to a man in a case filed over killing a retired teacher of Barhatta upazila in Netrokona in 2008.
Netrokona District and Sessions Court Judge, KM Rasheduzzaman on Monday passed the order and also fined him Tk 25,000 or another two months jail in default.
The convict was identified as Anowar Mia, 30, son of Manjil Mia of Gavarkanda village in Barhatta upazila, reports UNB.
According to the case statement, victim Mozammel Haque, retired teacher of Gorol primary School had dispute with another local teacher Md Ain Uddin, headmaster of Haziganj High School, over providing tuition to students.
On December 11 in 2008, Ain Uddin hired some miscreants who attacked the victim at Haziganj Bazar area leaving him seriously injured.
Later on December 19, Mozammel succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital
