A youth was killed by some miscreants in a mosque where he took shelter on Thursday evening at Jashaldia village in Lawhajong upazila.
The deceased was 26, son of Hasen Molla of the village, who had been working at Jatrabari fish transport counter.
Nurujjaman locked into an altercation with one Masum near the Padma Bridge project area and thrashed him, said UNB quoting officer-in-charge of Lawhajong Police Station Anisur Rahman.
Later, Masum along with his friends counterattacked with sticks and batons forcing Nurrujjaman to enter the mosque and seek shelter but his opponents followed him there and beat him up mercilessly.
Nuruzzaman died around 7pm on the way to Dhaka hospital, the OC added.
