Missing woman's body recovered in Tongi after three days

The body of a woman who went missing after falling into an open drain in Tongi was recovered on Tuesday morning, nearly three days after the incident.

Md Shahin Alam, senior station officer of Tongi Fire Service, said the body was retrieved from a waterbody in Haydarabad area of Tongi around 9:00 am.

The deceased was identified as Faria Taznim Jyoti, 31, of Baganpara village in Chuadanga Sadar upazila, as per a UNB report.

She was a resident of Dhaka’s Mirpur area and worked as a sales manager at Moni Trading Corporation.

Jyoti accidentally fell into the uncovered manhole in front of a hospital near Hossain Market on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway around 9:00 pm on Sunday night.

Locals tried to rescue her but failed and later informed the fire service.

After two nights and a full day of search operations, rescue teams launched a fresh drive on Tuesday morning and recovered the body from a waterbody.
