Members of the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) believe that a policeman whose body was recovered in Chattogram died by suicide.
Deepak Jyoti Khisha, superintendent of police for RAB-9, said law enforcers initially suspect that 25-year-old Nayeem Biswas hanged himself. The cause of death will be confirmed by an autopsy.
Constable Nayeem was found hanging on Monday morning and taken to Chattogram Medical College Hospital, where a doctor-on-duty declared him dead.
Nayeem was assigned to APBn-9 for the past one and a half years. He lived with his family in the port city’s Bayezid Chakreso residential area. He hailed from Barishal’s Bakerganj Upazila.
SP Deepak said that Nayeem lived in a rented home with his wife and child. His body was found hanging by a scarf from a fan at home.
“After speaking with the neighbours, we learnt there was a fight between husband and wife over a marital dispute. After that, Nayeem died by suicide after hanging himself from a fan with a scarf. APBn personnel rescued him and took him to the hospital when the incident was reported,” he said.
