Rangpur lorry workers strike shuts petrol supply across eight districts

Rangpur’s Tank Lorry Workers Union has launched an indefinite strike to protest the conviction and fines imposed on three workers for fuel theft.

President of the union Ataur Rahman said operations at Parbatipur Railhead Oil Depot in Dinajpur were suspended from 8am Sunday.

As a result, petrol supply to Nilphamari, Dinajpur, Rangpur, Gaibandha, Kurigram, Lalmonirhat, Panchagarh, and Thakurgaon has been halted.

Ataur added that eight districts’ pump owners and stakeholders have joined in solidarity, intensifying the disruption across the region.
