Road crash in Ctg’s Lohagara leaves 10 dead

At least 10 people were killed in a collision between a bus and two microbuses on Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway in Lohagara upazila of Chattograom on Wednesday morning.

The identities of the deceased could not be known yet.

At least seven injured victims were admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) and Upazila Health Complex in Lohagara.

Police said a Chattogram-bound bus of ‘Relax Paribahan’ crashed into two microbuses after it lost control in Chunti Jangalia area of the upazila, leaving seven people dead on the spot and seven to eight others injured.   

Members from Lohagara Fire Service and police stations rescued the injured and sent them to the nearby hospitals.

Four of them were shifted to the CMCH from Lohagara due to critical  condition while two succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment, said Nurul Amin Ashiq, assistant sub-inspector at CMCH police outpost.

Another injured receiving treatment at Lohagara upazila health complex also died, said Lohagara police station’s Officer-in-Charge Arifur Rahman. 

All the deceased were passengers of the microbuses, said Rakhal Chandra Rudra, leader of Lohagara Fire Service, adding that the microbuses were heading towards Cox’s Bazar from Kishoreganj.

OC Arifur said the bodies will be handed over to the families after completing legal procedures.

Earlier on March 31, five people were killed and six others injured in a deadly road accident in Chunti area.

Within a span of three days, two fatal road accidents occurred in the same area, claiming 15 leaves so far.
