Seven cops, two police organisations receive Rangpur Range award

The Rangpur Range of Bangladesh Police has awarded its seven personnel and two organisations with medals in recognition of their professional and organisational excellence in discharging duties.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Rangpur Police Devas Bhattacharya distributed the awards on Tuesday afternoon at the monthly crime, law and order assessment meeting held at his conference room in the city.

He distributed the medals among the police personnel of all eight districts under Rangpur Range for laudable performances in handling crimes and maintaining peaceful law and order situation.

Superintendent of Dinajpur Police Md Hamidul Alam received the best organisational award on behalf of the district police for maintaining excellent law and order in the district.

Besides, Roumari Thana in Kurigram district was awarded as organisation for best performances in handling crimes and maintaining peaceful law and order situation.

The awarded seven police personnel are – Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police for Lalmonirhat (Circle-B) Shaheed Sohrawardi, Sub-Inspector (SI) Momirul Haque of Gaibandha Detective Branch of Police, SI Nazmul Islam of Biral Thana in Dinajpur, SI Tuhin Mian of Roumari Thana, Traffic Police In-charge of Dinajpur district Sadakatul Bari, SI Jyotish Chandra Barman of Gaibandha Sadar Thana and ASI Shawkat Alam Siddique of Gobindaganj Thana in Gaibandha district.

Additional DIG for Rangpur Range Mazid Ali, Superintendents of Police (SP) from Rangpur, Panchagarh, Thakurgaon, Kurigram, Nilphamari, Lalmonirhat, Dinajpur and Gaibandha districts and other high police officials under Rangpur Range were present.

The DIG directed the police officials to remain alert all the time for curbing crimes, drug trafficking and drug abuse as well as to foil any attempt of militant and terrorist activities to maintain law and order and extending legal assistance to the common people, BSS reports.

“The law enforcement agencies must work diligently to ensure safer movement of the people, peaceful observance of the National Mourning Day-2018 and festive atmosphere during the Eid-ul-Azha festivity at all 7,332 Jamats in Rangpur division,” he said.
