Sirajganj road mishap claims three lives

At least three people were killed and three others injured following a head-on a collision between a truck and covered van on Dhaka-Bogura highway in Dadpur area of Raiganj upazila in Sirajganj on Sunday morning.

The mishap led to death of Rashidul Islam, 24, Abdur Rahman, 32, Alamin Hossain, 22, hailing from Sariakandi upazila in Bogura district.

Abdul Kader Zilani, officer-in-charge of Hati Kumrul Highway Police Station, said the accident occurred when the Bogura-bound tin-laden truck collided head-on with the covered van around 7:15 am, leaving the trio dead on the spot and three injured.

After the collision, the two vehicles overturned into a roadside ditch.

On information, police and fire fighters recovered the bodies after one and half hours of frantic efforts, reports UNB.

Injured Minhaj, 22, Md Sohel, 20 and Sagor Ali were admitted at Raiganj Upazila Health Complex, said the OC.

The accident halted vehicular movement on the highway for about two hours.
