Three die in truck-microbus collision in Kurigram

Three people, including a child, were killed and at least 11 others injured in a collision between a truck and a microbus in the Bansher Tal area of Nageshwari upazila in Kurigram late Tuesday night.

The deceased were identified as Sadia Akter, 7, daughter of Shamim Mia; Nur Nabi, 28, son of Zahidul Islam; and Limon, 38, the driver of the microbus. All were residents of different areas in Bhurungamari upazila, UNB reports.

Officer-in-Charge of Nageshwari Police Station Abdullah Hil Zaman said a truck coming from Bhurungamari collided with a microbus heading from Kurigram around 11:30 pm, leaving two people dead on the spot.

Another victim died after being taken to a local hospital.

Several of the injured were in critical condition and were sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.

Police and fire service personnel rushed to the scene and carried out rescue operations.

The OC said they are working to determine the cause of the accident.
