Three people were detained with six dredgers during a joint operation in the Arial Khan River in Faridpur district on Saturday night.
Officer-in-charge of Bhanga Police Station Ashraf Hossain said that on information of illegal sand extraction from the river in Bhanga and Sadar upazilas, the operation led by executive magistrate Fazle Rabbi was carried out from 11:30 pm to 6:00 am.
Six dredgers were seized, and three people were detained during the drive. The detainees were later handed over to police, as per a UNB report.
He added that legal action will be taken against the detainees.
