Three members of a family were killed and two others injured in a road accident in Gazaria upazila of Munshiganj district in the early hours of Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Alamgir, 55, his wife Rahela Begum, 50 and their son Jahir, 30, of Chandpur district, according to UNB.
The accident took place around 1:45 am on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway in the Baushia area in the upazila.
Gazaria police station chief Rajib Khan said the members of the family were going to Dhaka from Chandpur. The covered van hit the vehicle when it reached Baushia area on the highway. Three passengers of the car died on the spot and two others were injured.
The injured were taken to Gazaria Upazila Health Complex.
