Two people died in a head-on collision between a truck and a motorcycle in Dinajpur's Birganj Upazila.
The victims were identified as motorcycle riders Madhab Roy (24) and Dipu Roy (30). They were natives of Mashalpur village in Chirirbandar Upazila, as per a bdnews24.com report.
The accident occurred around 8:30 am on the Dinajpur-Panchagarh highway in the Kabirajhat area on Friday, said Sergeant Sheikh Arefin Imrose.
Mahab and Dipu were heading home from Thakurgaon's Nargun Khejurbagan when a truck crashed into their motorcycle, Arefin said, citing witnesses.
“Madhab died on the spot, while Dipu was critically injured.”
Fire Service personnel from the Birganj Upazila rushed Dipu to the Birganj Upazila Health Complex, where he later died during treatment.
Locals helped authorities seize the truck involved in the accident, said Abdul Gafur, chief of Birganj Police Station.
However, the truck driver and his aide managed to flee. Police are preparing to take legal action over the incident.
