SYLHET, Sept 13: Under the Second Rural Transport Improvement Project (RTIP-II) of World Bank financing, repair work of the five -year pilot project on the 35km long Sylhet-Gachhbari GC-Kanaighat Upazila Headquarters Road in the Kanaighat upazila of the district has been completed .
Besides the described repair programme, regular maintenance activities have been continuing for five years.
People of the areas concerned are already getting the benefits of such long-term repair programmme, said the Executive Engineer of LGED, Sylhet Mr. A. S. M. Mohsin. With the execution of the pilot project, there has been a big change in the transport of commuters and transportation of commodity, traffic, trade and commerce of Kanaighat upazila with neighbouring areas including the divisional city of Sylhet, the official adedd.
