A large whale's skeleton has been exhumed from the sand of the beach in Cox’s Bazar district nearly three years after its burial.
Scientists of the Bangladesh Oceanographic Research Institute started exhuming the whale skeleton last Monday and completed the task on Thursday.
The skeleton will reportedly be displayed in the National Museum in the capital.
On April 10, 2021, the dead whale that was floating on the beach was buried into the sand.
The whale weighed about 09 tonnes, 46-foot long and 16-foot wide.
The whale which belongs to Brydes species died in the deep Bay of Bengal and the various parts of its body were decomposed.
Abu Saeed Muhammad Sharif, senior scientific officer, participated in the excavation of the skeleton.
