A 25-year-old man was stabbed to death by his rivals over drug peddling at Mohishkundi village in Daulatpur upazila of Kushita district on Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Mohon Ali, 25, son of Madan Ali of Jamalpur district.
Quoting local people, Nazmul Huda, officer-in-charge-of Daulatpur Police Station, said Mohon had an enmity with some drug peddlers of Thotarpara and Jamalpur villages for long.
As a sequel to the enmity, the alleged drug peddlers from Tothatpara village opened fire on Mohon and his friend Hridoy when they went to the village to see an ailing friend on Friday afternoon.
Although they escaped unhurt after the firing, the attackers caught them and stabbed them indiscriminately, leaving both injured.
They were taken to Daulatpur Upazila Health Complex where Mohom succumbed to his injuries around 11:30 pm.
However, police are trying to arrest the attackers, said OC Nazmul.
