A court in Dhaka on Tuesday ordered attachment of properties worth more than Taka 50 million of the Inspector of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Md Ekram Ali, his wife Kanij Fatema Mukta and other people related to his interest.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the order allowing a plea of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The properties, which are to be attached, include plots and flats in Dhanmandi, Gulshan, Badda, Keraniganj and Gopalganj. The estimated cost of the properties is Taka 53.8 million.

The ACC in its plea said the commission is probing allegations of amassing illegal wealth against the couple and it has learned that they are trying to hand over or transfer the properties to evade justice.

"For the sake of proper investigation, the properties should be attached," it added.
