A court has imposed a travel ban on former finance minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, his wife Kashmiri Kamal and daughters Kashfi Kamal and Nafisa Kamal.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib issued the order on Tuesday.

The Anti-Corruption Commission, or ACC, petitioned for the travel ban against the ex-minister of the fallen Awami League government and his family, said ACC Assistant Director Aminul Islam. The court granted the plea, banning them from leaving the country.

Kamal, his wife and daughters are being investigated over allegations of accumulating wealth beyond known sources of income, the ACC petition said. Sources said they could flee abroad. Hence, a travel ban was needed against the suspects to ensure a proper investigation, the ACC said.

On Feb 13, the ACC filed a case against the former minister, his wife and two daughters for misusing power and accumulating illegal wealth worth Tk 1.67 billion. Kamal was accused of owning illegal wealth worth Tk 275 million, Kashmiri Tk 461 million, daughter Kashfi Tk 315 million and Nafisa worth Tk 620 million.
