Dhaka court orders seizure of more assets of ex-IGP Benazir, his family

A Dhaka court has ordered the authorities concerned to confiscate additional assets belonging to former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed, his wife, and children.

Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Jaglul Hossain issued the order following a petition from the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The assets include 24 kathas of land in Narayanganj’s Rupganj, 3 kathas of land in Dhaka's Gulshan, two 3075-square-foot flats, in Badda, six flats in Adabor, 25 acres of land in Bandarban, and shares in Citizen Television Ltd and Tigerafit Apparels Ltd.

The ACC recently launched investigations into Benazir and his family following media reports alleging that they possess assets beyond means.
