Covid, dengue kill five

At least five people in Bangladesh died from Covid-19 and dengue between Sunday morning and Monday morning.

In the last 24 hours (until 8:00 am Monday), three people died from Covid-19, bringing the total number of Covid deaths this year to 19. This is the highest number of deaths from the virus in a single day so far in 2025.

Two of the people who died were from the Chattogram division, and one was from the Dhaka division.

During this time, 19 new Covid cases were found after testing 406 people, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Additionally, two people died from dengue during the same 24-hour period. This brings the total dengue death count to 34 so far this year.

At the same time, 392 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals. So far this year, 2,411 people have been hospitalised with dengue.

In 2023, the disease killed 1,705 people - the highest number ever recorded. That year, there were 321,179 dengue cases and 318,749 recoveries.
