Police recovered two charred bodies from an abandoned community centre in Savar municipality area on Sunday.
Local people spotted the bodies at the community centre, about 500 yards away from Savar Model Police Station premises and informed police through national emergency number 999 who recovered the bodies in the afternoon, said Arman Ali, Officer-in-Charge of Savar Model Police Station.
“As the bodies are burnt their identities could not be ascertained immediately. We are investigating,” said the OC.
With the latest recovery, a total of five bodies have been found at the abandoned community centre over the past six months.
On August 29, last year, police recovered the body of an unidentified young man with his hands and legs tied from the same location and on October 11, the body of an unidentified woman, aged around 30, was found there.
On December 19, police recovered the body of a man from a second-floor toilet of the same community centre.
Expressing concern over the repeated recovery of bodies, local people said various criminal activities occur at the abandoned community centre but no effective action has been taken yet.
