The main suspect in the case, Mamun Mia, 23, is absconding. All are residents of Gangail Union of the Upazila.

At a press conference at his office at 1pm on Thursday, Naymul said: "Mamun Mia developed a romantic relationship with a garment worker, 16, from a village in Nandail Upazila. On the night of Jul 18, Mamun took the girl to a secluded place on the pretext of treating her to some food at a restaurant.

"There, Mamun raped the girl with the help of Jahangir, Shakil and Momin. Later, they also raped her. In this incident, the victim's father filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act at Nandail Police Station on Jul 22."
