Investigation into the case filed with the International Crimes Tribunal-1 (ICT) in Dhaka in connection with the murder of Abu Sayed, a student of Begum Rokeya University, and crimes against humanity committed during the 2024 uprising is at the final stage.

The prosecution informed the ICT of the update on Sunday, adding that the report might be submitted within two weeks.

However, the prosecution formally sought a one-month extension, which the tribunal granted, setting July 14 as the new deadline for submission of the probe report on the case.

A three-member bench of the ICT, headed by its Chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder, passed the order after hearing a prayer - submitted by the prosecution.

The tribunal also allowed a petition - filed by the prosecution for interrogating four arrested accused of the case.

The ICT investigators have been permitted to interrogate Amir Hossain, former ASI of police, and Sujan Chandra Roy, former constable, on June 18; and Shariful Islam, former proctor of the university, and Imran Chowdhury Akash, a leader of Chhatra League, on June 19.
