Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested an alleged smuggler along with 2.183 kg gold from Badamtala near Bhomra land port in Sadar upazila on Thursday evening.
The arrestee is Aziz Hasan, son of Golam Sarwar of Mahmudpur village in the upazila, reports UNB.
Subedar Shafiqur Rahman of Bhomra BGB border outpost said a team of paramilitary force, led by him, challenged Aziz at the land port road around 7pm on information that a consignment of gold was being smuggled to India.
Twelve gold bars weighing 2.183 kg were recovered searching his body, he said, adding that they later detained Aziz.
