The Border Guard Bangladesh has been deployed in four districts, including Dhaka, following a spate of violent incidents such as fires and crude bomb explosions linked to the imminent verdict in a crimes against humanity case against deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina.

On Sunday, a statement from the BGB headquarters confirmed the deployments in Dhaka, Gopalganj, Faridpur, and Madaripur, assigning the force to ensure overall security and maintain law and order in these areas.

The verdict in the International Crimes Tribunal-1 case is scheduled for Monday. The three-member tribunal, headed by Justice Md Golam Mortuza Mozumder, will deliver the ruling.

The other suspects in the case are former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan and former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun.

The former IGP has given testimony as a state witness.

Ahead of the ruling, the Awami League, whose activities are banned by the interim government, has announced a “complete shutdown” on Monday, and reports have emerged of vehicle fires, grenade attacks, and road blockages across Dhaka and other districts.
