Police have recovered the bodies of a couple and their 8-month-old child from the house of a relative in Madaripur.
The three bodies were recovered late on Sunday night in the town’s Amirabad, according to Abul Kalam Azad, chief of Madaripur Sadar Model Police Station.
The dead have been identified as Chinmoy Das, his wife Isha Das, and their child. They hailed from the Kolagachia area of Madaripur Sadar, bdnews24.com reports.
Police official Azad said, “Mishti Baroi has lived in a rented room in the house of Santona Rani Chandra, the wife of the deceased Birendranath Dutta, in Amirabad for the past three years. She [Mishti] is the wife of Jatin Baroi, who hailed from Satpar of Gopalganj’s Muksudpur Upazila.”
“On Sunday, Chinmoy Das and the two members of his family went to the house as they are cousins. Chinmoy and his family stayed overnight in a room at the house. When the incident was reported around midnight, police broke down the door and recovered the bodies of three people, including a child.”
He said, “Mishti was in a neighbouring room at the time of the incident. Police went to the scene when she reported it.”
“We are investigating whether this was murder or suicide. But Mishti is, initially, on the list of suspects.”
The bodies have been sent to the Madaripur Sadar Hospital morgue for postmortem, the police official said.
