Police have recovered the bloodied body of an eight-year-old child from Nasirnagar upazila of Brahmanbaria.
The girl’s family alleges that she was raped and murdered. A case has been filed over the incident.
Nasirnagar Police Station OC Maksud Ahammad said on Thursday that the girl’s father filed a case against unidentified suspects, reports bdnews24.com.
The body was recovered on Wednesday morning from Shankardaha village in Haripur Union, he said.
The child was a third grader at a local government primary school. Police sent the body to the morgue in Brahmanbaria General Hospital for a post-mortem.
According to locals and the victim’s family, the child was studying at home on Tuesday evening with her sister. Then, she was called and asked to leave the house. She left and did not come back. The family arranged a missing person’s announcement in the locality, but it did not turn up clues about her whereabouts.
On Wednesday morning, locals found the child’s bloodied body lying inside an abandoned tin room beside her house. Then they informed the police, who recovered the body.
The child’s sister said someone had called her sister out of the house around 7:30 pm. Then her body was recovered on Wednesday morning. Her sister was raped and killed, she said.
The father of the victim says, “I was performing my prayers on Tuesday evening when my elder daughter called and said my younger daughter had gone missing.”
“In the morning, we found my daughter’s body in an abandoned place near my house. I don’t know who killed my daughter. I want justice.”
Haripur Union Council Panel Chairman Sajal Chandra Das said, "An eight-year-old girl was brutally raped and then killed. We want proper justice."
OC Maksud said, "The incident is being investigated while keeping everything in mind. The true cause of the child's death will be known after receiving the post-mortem report."
