Police recovered the bodies of a couple from Bagha Upazila of Rajshahi.

The housewife was found dead on the verandah of their home, while the husband’s body was found hanging from a nearby tree.

A preliminary investigation implies that the husband killed his wife before committing suicide, police said.
The bodies were recovered from Pakuria Union's Malithapara on Thursday morning, said Bagha Police Station OC Selim Reza.

The dead were identified as Abdul Mannan, 45, and his wife Kazli Begum Runi, 38.
Around 3am on Thursday, their 13-year-old son left his grandmother’s room and found the body of his mother on the verandah, said bdnews24 citing the OC.

Locals later found Mannan’s body hanging from a lychee tree at a nearby orchard.

The couple’s son was unable to tell police whether they had argued recently or whether there had been any domestic tensions.

“No signs of injury were found on Runi’s body. At this stage, we believe the husband may have committed suicide after killing his wife,” said OC Reza.
