A Dhaka court has ordered the freezing of 13 bank accounts linked to deposed prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s defence and security advisor Tarique Ahmed Siddique, his wife Shaheen Siddique, and daughter Nurin Siddique.

These accounts contain Tk 67.9 million, according to the authorities.

Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib issued the order on Wednesday following a plea filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), its spokesman Akhtarul Islam said.

ACC Deputy Director Monirul Islam, the investigating officer of the case, pleaded for a freeze on the accounts.

He told the court it was “necessary” to seize their movable assets in these accounts as Tarique, his wife and daughter and their associated entities are trying to hand over, transfer, or dispose of them.
