Officials of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) arrested a man along with four gold bars and gold jewellery, weighing 564 grams, at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) here early Friday.
The arrestee was identified as Mohammad Salauddin, according to a report on UNB.
Director General (DG) of CIID Dr Shahidul Islam, said a flight of 'Emirates Airlines' landed at the airport around 12:30 am from Dubai.
Tipped off, a team of CIID challenged Salauddin while crossing the green zone of the airport.
After interrogation, he confessed to carrying gold bars and ornaments hidden in his rectum.
Later, the gold bars and ornaments, worth Tk 3.5 million, were released from his bowel. Salahuddin was handed over to Airport Police Station.
