Customs intelligence officials has found 58 gold bars wrapped in a blanket inside luggage of a passenger at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Monday.
The officials detained the passenger, Alam, hails from Comilla.
Assistant Commissioner at Dhaka Custom House Saidur Rahman said the passenger landed Dhaka on Monday on a Gulf Air flight from Bahrain.
The detectives had received a tip off that the 45-year-old was smuggling the gold.
The gold bars were found wrapped in a blanket inside his luggage, said the Customs officer.
According to bdnews24.com, the bars weigh about 6,700 grams and their estimated market value is around Tk 33.5 million, he added.
