Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) officials on Tuesday seized two luxury vehicles in Dhaka and Chittagong cities on charges of tax evasion.
Sources at the CIID said based on secret information, a team of CIID conducted a drive at a house in city's Uttara and seized the Toyota Harrier (Lexus RX) SUV worth Tk 10 million.
Director General (DG) of CIID Dr Shahidul Islam said though the owner of the vehicle is now in Chittagong, he kept the car in Uttara as he came to know that the car is now under surveillance of the CIID.
In another incident, a team of CIID officials during another drive in Chittagong recovered a Land Rover Defender vehicle worth Tk 17.5 million from a garage.
Some parts of the vehicle were found separated and it had been running in Chittagong for a long time, said the CIID DG, reports UNB.
