A court in Dhaka on Thursday placed former Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) official Major (Retd) Manjil Haider Chowdhury on a fresh three-day remand in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act over a flash procession by the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and Awami League in the capital in 2025.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jamshed Alam passed the order after police produced Manjil before the court upon completion of his previous four-day remand and sought a further seven-day remand.

Earlier, Manjil was first placed on a five-day remand on April 21. He was subsequently remanded for another four days on April 26. With today's order, he has been remanded for the third time in the case.

According to the case statement, leaders and activists of the banned BCL and Awami League brought out a flash procession in front of Rupayan Tower in the Bangla Motor area on September 12, 2025, chanting various anti-government and anti-state slogans. Police later filed the case under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
