‘Inter-gang shootout’ leaves ‘criminal’ dead in Cox’s Bazar

A man, accused in several cases, was killed in a reported shootout between two gangs in the hilly area of Shaplar Ful Union under Maheshkhali upazila of Cox’s Bazar in the early hours of Tuesday.

Police identified the deceased as Shahabuddin, 25, son of Abdur Rahim, resident of Nunchhari village in Kolmarchhora Union.

A police team went to the area in the morning after learning about the gunfight and recovered the body, said Probash Chandra Dhar, officer-in-charge of Maheshkhali Police Station.

Four firearms were also recovered from the scene of the gunfight, UNB reports quoting the OC.

Probash added that Shahabuddin was accused in a number of criminal cases.
